School may be over but the Royals Football Team at Saugeen District Secondary School is gearing up for another season with help from Delux Paint in Owen Sounds who donated nine gallons of paint to the team to freshen up their football portable with Royal team colours.

Coach Joey Wentworth along with members of the team and College Pro volunteered their time June 27 to paint the exterior white with blue trim with plans to paint the team’s logo on one side of the portable.

“It’s nice to see a local business support a local program,” said Coach Wentworth, who hoped the new paint job would “turn a few heads and get more students interested.”

“Something for the guys to be proud of for sure, which is really what we’re looking for,” said Wentworth. The coach of five years said that the 2017 team is a younger team with tryouts having taken place June 15 and 16. “We have about 30 guys and most of them are new so we’re hoping to have a good 40 people, which is a step up from last year. A young crew, it’s going to be nice.”
